Developed together with educators: grooves guide the pen, the magic ink fades away all by itself – and every page can be playfully practised again and again.
Warning: Not suitable for children under 36 months. Small parts. Choking hazard.
Contains small parts (refills, cap) that can be swallowed. Keep spare refills and cap out of reach of children under 3.
The kikolu Magic Copybooks are exercise books that never fill up. Letters, numbers, lines and small sums are pressed into the paper as grooves. Your child traces them with the magic pen, and after about 10 minutes the ink fades by itself. The page is empty again and ready for the next round.
The Set of 4 covers four topics: Letters, Numbers, Drawing & Lines and Maths. So your child finds a suitable start from 3 years and can move on later, without needing a new book.
For children from 3 years who love drawing, scribbling and want to write «like the big ones», and for parents looking for a calm activity without screens. The set fits on the kitchen table just as well as in the backpack for the train, a restaurant or the waiting room.
On normal paper, a letter that goes wrong can quickly be a reason to give up. In the Magic Copybook it disappears again. That takes the pressure off: your child can simply try again, as often as they like. So practising becomes more of a game than a chore.
From simple line exercises to letters, numbers and small sums: the pages were designed together with educators so children can progress playfully step by step. Clear shapes, friendly illustrations and a calm page layout create moments of success without pressure.
Each book has 8 sheets and its own focus. That keeps it varied, and your child chooses.

Trace from A to Z. Every letter has a picture word: A for apple, B for bear, C for clown, D for dino.
From 3 years.

Counting and writing numbers. Every number comes with its word and a picture to count along.
From 3 years.

Lines, shapes and swings: waves, zigzags and loops loosen up the hand, plus circle, triangle, square and star.
From 3 years.

Practise plus and minus with simple tasks like 2 + 1 or 9 − 3. The answer is traced.
From 5 years.
All exercises are pressed into the book. The pen tip slides into the groove and follows the shape, even when the hand is still unsure. This quickly creates a clean stroke.
With every repetition the hand gets to know the movement better. At some point the shape works without the groove too.
The magic pen writes with an ink that fades after about 10 minutes. Then the page is free, without an eraser and without smudged sheets.
For children it is a little magic trick every time. For you it means: no buying new worksheets, and one book lasts for many rounds.
How quickly the ink fades can also depend on room temperature and humidity.
A book, a pen, and the wait at the restaurant or the train ride to the grandparents is taken care of. The Magic Copybooks need no battery, no app and no Wi-Fi.
Because the pages become empty again and again, a small set is enough for many outings.
In four steps from unpacking to the first magic trick.
Your child picks a topic: Letters, Numbers, Drawing & Lines or Maths.
With the magic pen your child traces the pressed lines. The grooves show the pen the way.
After a while the magic ink fades by itself, usually after about 10 minutes. Time for a short break or the next page.
The page is empty again and ready for the next round, as often as your child likes.
We do not promise learning results, because every child develops at their own pace. These are things your child can try out playfully with the books:
The grooves give support while the hand tries out moving the pen in a controlled way.
Waves and arcs loosen up hand and arm. Exercises like these are a typical first step towards writing.
Tracing again and again makes children familiar with shape and writing direction.
Dots and pictures invite counting and first addition tasks.
From 3 years. The stages are a guide, not a rule: every child practises at their own pace.
Holding the pen, tracing waves and arcs, first shapes. The Drawing & Lines book is a good start.
Trace digits and count things. Short rounds are perfectly enough.
Practise capital letters and solve first addition tasks, often around kindergarten time.
Both have their place. Here you can see objectively how they differ.

If the pen only writes faintly, it is time for a new refill: take the empty refill out of the pen, insert a new magic refill and close the pen again.
Refills are small parts. Please change them yourself and keep spare refills out of reach of small children.

Depending on the topic, from 3 or from 5 years. The recommended age is printed on every book. The magic pen contains small parts and is therefore not suitable for children under 36 months.
The letters, numbers and shapes are pressed into the paper as grooves. The grooves guide the magic pen, and after a while the ink fades by itself. So your child can practise every page again and again.
Usually about 10 minutes. Depending on room temperature and humidity, it can be a little faster or slower.
As often as your child likes. The ink fades again every time. Over time the paper can wear a little with frequent practice, especially if your child presses very hard.
Then simply wait a little longer. It is important to use only the magic pen and not to press hard.
Please don't. Pencil, ballpoint or felt-tip pen stay on the paper and cannot be removed. Only with the kikolu magic pen does the writing disappear again.
What matters most is what your child enjoys right now. The age on the cover gives you a guide. More on the page Which age?
